Exports to the United States grew again in August for the second consecutive month, but they are still not close to the levels of the first quarter, despite expectations that Argentina’s shipments would accelerate given the extremely high tariffs on Brazilian beef in that market. In August, Argentina sent 403 tons of chilled beef, the second-lowest volume of the year, and 2,488 tons of frozen beef, below all monthly volumes of the first quarter. In terms of prices, chilled beef in August averaged US$ 10,752 per ton, compared to US$ 10,984 the previous month and the January peak of US$ 12,807. Frozen beef averaged US$ 6,736 per ton in August, 15% below the previous month.
